Incentives under the Fiscal Incentives Act include:

a. Tax holiday of up to 15 years

b. Additional tax rebates of up to five years

c. Exemption from custom duties on material and equipment deemed necessary to establish update an enterprise

d. There is No Personal Income Tax in St. Kitts.

e. Repatriation of profits, dividends, royalties, and imported capital by arrangement with the Ministry of Finance.

St. Kitts is eligible for guarantee support under the World Bank’s Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) and the overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), a United States Government Agency.

Both MIGA and OPIC can play an incredibly important role in reducing a project’s risk profile; providing guarantees against non-commercial risks to protect cross-border investment in developing member countries.

St. Kitts is a member of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU), which shares a unitary currency and monetary policy. The convertibility of the Eastern Caribbean (EC$) dollar is fully self-supported, and the parity of the exchange rate remains unchanged.

  • The Hotel Aids Act provides relief from customs duties on items brought into the country for use in construction, extension and equipping of a hotel.
  • The Income Tax Act provides special tax relief benefits for hotels. These hotels are exempt from income tax for 10 years. If the hotel contains < 30 bedrooms, gains or profits would be exempt from income tax for 5 years.
