The Valencia region is the leading economic motor of the southern mediterranean. More than 400 multinational companies develop their activities in Valencia, Castellón and Alicante. Valencia Port is the leading port in container traffic in Spain.

After hosting the 23nd America's Cup in 2007, Valencia is prepared for the Formula One challange, that will start in 2008 in a urban circuit. 

The Valencia region is located on the eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula (northern latitude of 40º 47' and longitude of 4º 12'- 2º 09'). To the north it borders Catalonia, to the west Aragon and Castile-La Mancha, to the south Murcia and to the east the Mediterranean Sea.


 It forms part of the so-called "Mediterranean Arc". The areas on the Arc have similar characteristics and their GDP growth rates are higher than the national average.
It has a surface area of 23,255 km2, representing 4.6% of Spanish territory and 0.6% of the European Union.
Due to its elongated shape, with a north- south orientation, the area has 451 km of coastline on the Mediterranean Sea.     

The population is distribuited between the three provinces wich make up the Valencia region:

Valencia (51.92%), Alicante (36.47%) and Castellón (11.61%), with a total of 541 tows.
The Gip  at  market  prices is around 95.000 million.
Annual growth rate of 4%. (INE).
In 2006, average per capita incomee was around €21.000 (INE).

  • Expanding Communications Network. The Valencia Region has  three international airports, highways to the centre of Europe and a high speed train coming soon.

In excess of  150 million euros has been invested in the construction of nine industrial parks.More than 400 multinational have chosen to invest in the Valencia Region. Among them are some of the world´s leading multinationals, such as Ford, Nestlé, BP,UBE Corporation,ALCAN Packaging, Thyssen-Ros Casares, ARCELOR, Galmed,Johnson Controls, etc.

The most dominant sectors are currently  logistics and transport, tourism and industries with high added value  such as automotive and components, chemical, electronics, ceramics and
construction materials.
