  • Nebraska Customized Job Training Grant Program: Provides a flexible and discretionary job training program with grants from $800 to $4,000 per qualified new job. Additional grant funds may be available for new jobs created in rural and high poverty areas.
  • Community Development Grant Program (CDBG): The Nebraska Department of Economic Development provides CDBG funding to local governments. They use the funds to make infrastructure grants and low-interest loans to create and retain jobs in qualifying businesses that offer employment with above average wages and benefits. Generally, loans to businesses are limited to $500,000.

Under the Nebraska Advantage Act, non-retail businesses may receive benefits in the following tax categories:

Additional Tax Savings:

  • Exemption from state personal income tax on capital gains realized from selling or exchanging stock of one corporation acquired by an employee with that corpo¬ration. The employee can also exclude extraordinary dividends that exceed 20% of the value of the stock for the same corporation.
  • Sales tax exemption on Manufacturing equipment, Manufacturing or processing raw materials, Common carrier vehicles, Utilities used in manufacturing.
  • No intangibles tax.
  • No inventory tax.
  • Sales tax refund on pollution control equipment.
  • 100% depreciation for personal property tax.

  • Nebraska provides two web-based community and industrial site & building databases to assist business in locating the right property for their needs. They include the “Location One Information System” and “Nebraska Economic Development Information”.
  • Nebraska Department of Economic Development helps businesses locate the information and resources needed.

  • Nebraska Customized Job Training Grant Program: provides employee training assistance. These funds are administered by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED).
